The WA College of Agriculture – Denmark has a limited number of beds in the college residence and therefore has a selection process for students wishing to enrol.

The following outlines the process for expression of interest and subsequent enrolment, and highlights the basis for decisions on student selection.

Expression of interest

If you have read the college prospectus and are interested in finding out more about the college then you may complete the Expression of Interest Form and send it to the college. On receipt of this form a school officer will contact you to make arrangements to visit the college along with other prospective parents. There will be a number of days set aside for such visits and hopefully one will suit you.

Once the day is confirmed you will arrive at about 10am with your son/daughter and be greeted by the Principal who will provide details of the educational programme and possible educational and vocational outcomes. This will be followed by a tour of the facility and lunch.

If you subsequently wish to make application to enrol your son/daughter then you must follow the following steps.

Enrolment

Step 1

Complete an application for enrolment form and send it to the college or leave it at the college following your visit to the college.

Step 2

If you have not visited then a school officer will contact you to make arrangements for the visit to occur. It is essential that all students making application, visit the college to ensure they are in fact making the right decision.

Step 3

Send copies of your son/daughters last two school reports. (Preferably semester reports) Copies can be made at the college if you do not have access to copying facilities.

Step 4

Wait for a response from the college (approx 2 weeks)

The college will ask for a confidential report from your last school to be sent direct to the college. This is used as an indicator of your son/daughters interest and suitability to this type of educational programme.

Once the college is in receipt of all information, senior staff will make a selection on the following basis:

(a) The student's enthusiasm to undertake the vocational education programme offered at this college.

(b) The student's past behavioural record will be considered in relation to their suitability to a residential environment.

(c) A student's academic record is important, however, this area will only be considered after the first two criteria.

(d) Priority will be given to students who will have turned 15 before the start of the new school year. Younger students may be considered if it is considered this is the best option to meet their educational needs.

Applicants will be notified of the status of their application as soon as practicable after all information is received.

Successful applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $100 to the college, which guarantees a position for the next year.
