The WA College of Agriculture-Denmark won first place taking both a trophy and $1,000 in prize money at the Harvey Beef Gate 2 Plate Competition on 20th March 2019.
The Harvey Beef Gate 2 Plate inter-schools challenge is held in conjunction with the Harvey Beef Field Day and the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark once again registered a team of six enthusiastic Year 12 students and two Year 11 students to compete.
Now in its fifth year, the event is not just about competition, it aims to educate students about aspects of the beef supply chain in WA and expose them to the various career opportunities available to them in the beef industry. Activities included presentations from industry and valuable insights from other young people already working in the agricultural sector.

Kevin Osborne, Principal said, “It is always valuable to allow our students to participate in such events, not only do they get to showcase their own knowledge and skills, they get to hear first-hand about what is going on in the agricultural industry from other young people…an industry that they themselves may one day aspire to join…Winning ribbons in the Challenge is always a proud moment for the College, but it is the exposure and networking opportunities that are important to the future careers of our students.”
