The Harvey Beef Gate 2 Plate inter-schools challenge is held in conjunction with the Harvey Beef Field Day and the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark was once again pleased to register a team of 8 students to compete.
Now in its fourth year, organisers said the challenge attracted one of its biggest audiences to date. The event is not just about competition, it strives to educate students about aspects of the beef supply chain in WA and expose them to the various career opportunities available to them in the beef industry. Activities included presentations from industry and valuable insights from other young people already working in the agricultural sector.
Congratulations to students participating in the inter-school competition which is run in conjunction with the field day. Deahna Keam won 2nd place in the Calving competition, Jenna Wise came 3rd in the Knowledge Quiz and Tahnee Montgomery won 2nd place in the Stock Handling competition.
It is always valuable to allow our students to participate in such events, not only do they get to showcase their own knowledge and skills, they get to hear first-hand about what is going on in the agricultural industry from other young people…an industry that they themselves may one day aspire to join…Winning ribbons in the Challenge is always a proud moment for the College and the exposure and networking opportunities are important to students making decisions about their future careers.
