New Genetics for Corriedale Stud

Genetics on the Agenda – 15-230 aka “Big Boy”.

The WA College of Agriculture-Denmark Corriedale Stud’s artificial insemination program will be underway on 20th February. The College uses AI as a method to plan for better conception rates and the ability to concentrate lambing time. The program also allows planning for accurate feeding regimes and management overall.

As a lead up to this event, the College has sourced some very exciting new genetics to introduce into the stud, courtesy of Milton Savage from Gambier Views Corriedale Stud in Victoria. The centre of this excitement being 15-230 aka “Big Boy”.

Big Boy has an impressive record as a Senior Champion and Grand Champion winner in Bendigo and Ballarat. This Ram has excellent muscle structure and an impressive body weight of 138kg, and cutting 13.6kg plus skirtings, of wool.

Kevin Osborne, Principal said, “We are very excited to see the progeny from this outstanding Ram later in the year as we are constantly working with industry to create and strengthen our partnerships and quality of our livestock. We also would like to thank Milton for his generosity in time and expertise in making this possible.
