Willow and Echo a Winning Story
Willow Donohoe and her horse Echo received a First Place for Jigsaw Pairs 70cm and Third Place for Special Two Phase 80cm at the WA State Show Jumping Championships held at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon last weekend.
These were very competitive classes and Willow and Echo have only been working together for about a year. Echo is an ex-racehorse and joined the Donohoe family with bucking, anti-social and challenging behaviour. All she needed was some TLC which Willow was willing to supply in leaps and bounds.
Echo’s future was under a cloud when, 8 months ago, she fell in the float and it was thought she may not be able to be ridden again. But here they are.
Echo attends School with Willow every Tuesday as part of the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark Equine program, and together they have formed a close working relationship.
Willow who is in Year 10 said “I am very proud of Echo and excited about future competitions and hope to compete at the State Eventing Championships later this year.”
Two other students from the College also participated in the Championships. Year 11 student CJ Hill, who also placed in two show jumping events and Annika Stone, whilst not placing, was very happy with her horse’s performance.
