Students from the WA College of Agriculture recently travelled to Beverley to enter the annual Beverley Agricultural Show. Taking four Simmental cattle and four mixed breed steers for the led steer event, students achieved several ribbons in the Cattle Judging and Parading and Junior Judging events.
As the last chance for the students to qualify for the Perth Royal Show State Finals, nerves were running high especially when it came to participating in an oral presentation on the microphone. It was very pleasing to hear the results when three Denmark students qualified for the State Finals.
Congratulations to Year 12 students Jayne Thompson, Trent Eikelboom and Zac Mostert (Pictured below) for qualifying.
Mr. Osborne, College Principal said, “Agricultural shows provide a wonderful platform to enable students studying the Certificate in Agriculture to demonstrate their proficient animal handling skills. The opportunity to exhibit, compete and be judged on your merits at such a prestigious event as the Royal Show is an important part of the 360 degree learning process offered through the College.”
Students will pit their skills against other agricultural colleges, where they have been very successful in taking out winning places in the past.
