Earthy, spicy, fruity, peppery, very drinkable, are just some of the adjectives used by leading winemakers to describe the East River Winery white, rose, sparkling and red wines.
East River Winery is the viticulture enterprise of the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark and students have been helping to make wine here for the past 20 years under the direction of renowned winemaker James Kellie from Harewood Wines. In that time the College has turned out some outstanding wines.
Sampling the wines as a pre-cursor to their release for sale at the College Open Day on 1 September 2018, Mr. Murray Montgomery from Montgomery Hill Wines and Mr. Owen Sounness, a member of the Agricultural Advisory Committee said the wines being offered for sale offered excellent characteristics and value for money.
The wines are on offer to the public on limited occasions such as Open Day, under special licensing provisions and will include a special release 2011 Sparkling Pinot-Chardonnay celebrating 20 years of winemaking at WACOA-Denmark. .
The College Open Day offers members of the public the opportunity to sample and purchase wine. Pre-orders are also available by contacting the College for an Order Form. Open Day is held on Saturday 1 September 2018.
