Reflecting on Term 2: A Season of Growth and Achievement
As Term 2 comes to a close, it is worth pausing to take stock of just how much our school community has accomplished in a short space of time. The past few months have been busy with learning happening everywhere, from the classroom to the farm, and plenty of moments to celebrate.
Country Week was a definite highlight. Our sports teams gave it everything, not just chasing wins but representing our school with real pride. The event was more than just competition; it was a chance for students to connect with others from all over the state and build friendships that will last well beyond the final whistle. The sense of camaraderie and the way everyone supported each other were truly impressive.
Of course, it has also been a demanding term academically. OLNA, EST’s, and ATAR exams have kept many of our students busy, and I want to acknowledge the hard work and determination they have shown. For many of our students not involved in Country Week, work experience provided a valuable taste of life beyond school, developing their confidence, and learning what it means to be part of a workplace.
This term also saw students honing their agricultural skills. From Year 10 through Year 12, I have watched students take on everything from livestock handling to crop management. It was especially rewarding to see the Year 10s tackle lamb marking for the first time, embracing the task and working together seamlessly.
I have also had the pleasure of dropping in on Cattle Club, where students were sharpening their judging skills, and the older members were mentoring the newcomers. There is nothing quite like seeing students share their knowledge and prepare together for the shows ahead.
At the heart of it all is our ongoing commitment to preparing students for what comes next. Yes, academic achievement matters. But so do the life skills of communication, empathy, teamwork that really set young people up to succeed. Every day, whether it is through big events or everyday lessons, we are helping our students grow into confident, capable, and compassionate adults.
A heartfelt thank you to our staff, students, and families for everything you have put into Term 2. Wishing you all a safe and relaxing break. I am looking forward to all we will accomplish in Term 3.
