It has been a busy and rewarding term at the school, with our students embracing a wide range of opportunities both in classroom and on farm. I want to take a moment to share some highlights that reflect the energy, commitment, and character of our community.
Country Week
Country Week is always a much-anticipated event, and this year did not disappoint. Our students represented the school with pride, competing across various sports and activities. More than just results on the field, it was the spirit of teamwork, fair play, and friendship that stood out.
Work Experience
Students have recently completed their work experience placements across a diverse range of agricultural related industries. These placements offer invaluable real-world insights and help students clarify their future career paths. Feedback from employers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on our students’ willingness to learn and strong work ethic. I would like to thank all the businesses and families who supported and hosted our students.
Agricultural Chemical Skill Set Course
Our senior students had the opportunity to complete the Agricultural Chemical Skill Set course. The course not only builds practical skills but also instils a sense of responsibility in handling substances that impact both farm productivity and environmental safety. Congratulations to all who participated.
On the Farm
Every day, our students are out on the farm, working through all sorts of weather. This hands-on experience is invaluable, as students demonstrate units of competency and build the practical skills they will carry into their futures. The grit and determination I see on display are a credit to them, and I have no doubt the lessons learned will serve them well.
Looking Ahead
As we head into the next part of the year, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their continued support and hard work. The positive attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life are what set our community apart.
VET Industry Awards
We have been selected as finalists in this prestigious award. Mick Pratt, Alf Mungioli and I will be travelling to Perth on Friday 5th September for the announcement of award winners. Previous Principal Rebecca Kirkwood will also be joining us.
Open Day 6 September 2025
Preparations are in full swing for our upcoming Open Day. All areas of the College have been ensuring we are ready to showcase our farm and trades areas, highlighting why WACoA Denmark is a fantastic facility for training and preparing our students for the agricultural industry.
Preparing for the Royal Show and Beverley
Excitement is building as we prepare for our involvement in both the Royal Show and the Beverley Agricultural Show. Students and staff are putting in long hours to prepare livestock, produce, and exhibits that showcase the best of our school’s talent and dedication. These events are not just about competition, but also about connecting with the broader community and celebrating rural life.
